Yes, I have. Granted, I haven’t had to do this a ton, but I have received a reply before. I agree with you – I wish that many ISPs would work harder in their abuse departments. In the story I mentioned above, where the guy posted on his site that I had had his ISP switch him off, I hadn’t actually heard back from the ISP (if I recall correctly). You just never know.

An interesting article. I used to report abusive chatters directly to their ISPs but soon stopped this as it became apparent my reports were falling on deaf ears. ISPs really need to take complaints from websites a lot more seriously.

Have you ever received a response from an ISP when you have filed a complaint about one of their customers?

It stinks some people have to be party poopers to that kind of level. But it is something a website or forum admin will probably have to look forward to, or at the least prepare for. A lot of admins don’t realize in bad situations this is indeed an option! Although as you said it shouldn’t be used regularly, it can be used.

Interesting story, I didn’t get to visit phpBBhacks this morning so I probably didn’t get to see the damage.
