I just have to take this opportunity to say once again that nurturing the community and employing a community manager who is committed to the product, and growing the community is crucial. Why are people so shocked when a community fails when there was no one crafting a vision and tending to the people who matter most? This is not a "build it and they will come" type deal. It's more like build it, cultivate it, make it interesting and fun, and they might stick around for a while.
