		<description>I think the occasional mass-email is a good method to use but not too much or it could be thought of as spam and simply anger the member. I think doing more in-community activities is a good idea. If you run a forum admin or webmaster forum, why not create monthly contests such as the Forum/Site of the Month and offer free advertising or something in that nature. Doing things like that may make someone come back to keep trying AND it helps their site as well because they keep it up and try to make it better to win these sort of things.
