I normally hate these "how to use social media" posts and avoid them like the plague but this some really sound advice, thank you.

I think the sense of "community" has been horribly skewed over the years, and as the Internet opens up further, the sense itself is further diluted. Then of course you have people who just don't get it and never will; they wouldn't get it if you were talking about a website, a community forum, or their local grocery store. Sounds like this was a case of the latter.

I love the $5 thread idea! I may get to a point where I'll do that someday!

I actually have a whole area for posting tournaments and events, it's just that some people have a heck of a time figuring out that the "Tournaments" area would be where you'd post your tournament... :)

My latest, and by far most creative semi-spammer went as far as to post his tournament fliers in my photo gallery. Annoyed, yes, but I at least have to appreciate the creativity!

Thanks for the comments, Anonymouscommmgr and Jeremy. :)

That's really funny, Anonymouscommmgr. That's definitely similar to this situation. But, competitors? That's funny! :) If there is anyone at your old media company who'd be interested in a review copy of my book, please let me know! :)

Yeah, I know what you mean, Jeremy. You just have to be consistent. At KarateForums.com, we don't allow people to advertise events they are affiliated with. Keeps it simple. You could always launch a section and charge $5 per thread! :)

Thanks,
