I really enjoyed reading another webmasters' perspective on this topic. I have a somewhat similar situation, but in my case, I own a classifieds site. Ads on my site used to be completely free, but over time I have had to charge for more and more of the categories to keep them from being overrun by "bad" ads. I have turned away paying customers in the past and refunded their payments because I didn't like the ads they posted. Usually for things like Cash Gifting (illegal), escorts, and "win an iPod for filling out surveys for the next 9 months and then haha, guess what, you have to buy something from 6 of our sponsors to actually receive the iPod" type scams. Some people write back and ask what the problem is politely, which always amazes me, since I have to assume that they know what they're doing is wrong. Others send very rude and pushy emails demanding to know why they can no longer log in and why they have been banned. Some feel entitled to spam, and are very angry to be told they can't. I've even had someone threaten to report me to the BBB for deleting an ad they didn't pay me a cent for! At any rate, that's my two cents worth. :)
